The Night Before My Very First Sourdough Pop-Up Shop

There i was...

As I stood in my dimly lit kitchen, the aroma of freshly baked sourdough wafted through the air, mingling with the scent of anticipation that filled my heart. Tomorrow was the day—my first pop-up shop was finally becoming a reality. The thought sent a thrill down my spine, but it was accompanied by a twinge of anxiety that I couldn't shake off.

The Preparation

I had spent the entire day preparing, measuring with a precision that felt almost ritualistic. Each loaf was a labor of love, a testament to the countless hours I had spent perfecting my technique. The dough was now resting, its surface glowing golden brown under the kitchen light, promising a crust that would crack and a crumb that would delight. I couldn’t help but smile at the sight.

The realization

As I cleaned up the kitchen, I felt a surge of confidence wash over me. This past year of baking had transformed my skills and deepened my passion. I was excited about the gathering ahead, knowing that the hard work I had put in would shine through in every loaf. The weather, whether rainy or windy, couldn't dampen my enthusiasm; I had learned to adapt and embrace the challenges. I smiled as I recalled the countless conversations with friends and family who had cheered me on, their belief in me fueling my determination. I was ready to share my creations with the world, but first...Scottsdale.

Setting the Scene

With the kitchen tidy and everything in place, I turned my attention to the details of the pop-up shop. I was invited to host a pop-up at a new client's creative space on the corner of Scottsdale and Shea. Será Collective is an adorable series of salon suites with services all across the beauty spectrum including facials, botox and even custom jewelry. There's a cute coffee shop next door to Será and I'm hoping we'll garner a good amount of interest from their clientele. I'm bringing my whole farmers market set up so at the least, I'm ready to operate the same way we would in that kind of scenario. I'm sure we'll need some things we don't have and have some things we don't need, but we'll make those adjustments after the pop-up. Right now, it's just about putting our best foot forward.

Reflection

Sitting at my kitchen table, I reflected on the journey that had led me here. From the first time I had mixed flour and water to create a bubbling starter, to the late nights spent researching techniques and experimenting with flavors, every moment had been a stepping stone. I was not just baking bread; I was sharing a piece of myself. And now I was sharing it with a brand new audience at my very first sourdough pop-up shop. WHOA!

Embracing the Moment

As the clock ticked closer to midnight, I decided to embrace the uncertainty. I poured myself a glass of wine and toasted to the adventure ahead. Tomorrow would be a new chapter, one filled with possibilities and connections. I knew that regardless of the outcome, I had already succeeded by daring to follow my passion.

With that thought, I turned off the kitchen light and headed to bed, my heart full of hope and my mind buzzing with dreams of crusty loaves and happy customers. Tomorrow, I would step into the world and share my love for sourdough with anyone who would listen—and that, I realized, was the greatest reward of all.

time for my very first sourdough pop-up shop!
